The Sunken Milk Pond whereabouts are home to several farms.
We went to buy some meat, but after playing a while with the cute agarabbits…

Nous avions pour projet de nous acheter un peu de viande, mais après avoir joué un brin avec les petit lapinagarics…
…nous avons finalement opté pour des pleurotes séchées et des lichen croustillants.

At last, we reached the Sunken Milk Pond, where the milky water goes underground.
Here in this fork, we can enjoy the warm water without polluting the main stream.

This is a part of the Travel log of Fungi HavenEnfin, nous avons atteints la Bassine du Lait Enfoui, où les eaux laiteuses s’en vont sous terre.
A cette fourche, nous pouvons nous baigner sans rique de poluer le courant principal.
Quel soulagement après cette épuisante grimpette !

Progress is arduous.
The way is slippery because of these slime-covered caps.
We don’t want to tumble and fall into the milky water, as it would compromise the haverst downstream.

This is a part of the Travel log of Fungi HavenNous progressons avec peine.
Le chemin est glissant en raison de ces champignons couverts de mucus.
Nous ne voulons pas trébucher et tomber dans le courant laiteux, car nous perturberions la récolte en aval.
On aurait pu utiliser des chaussures à crampons, mais cela risquerait aussi d’abimer les champignons.
No more crypts – Epilogue
We’re back to the cold and damp crypts.
It was fun while it lasted. Now’s time to prepare for tonight ceremony: properly rusting the hanging chains, fixing more skulls to the walls, sharpening ceremonial knives… the usual.
And yet, it has been done! For a moment, we were free.
We did gain something: hope.
Hope that we will escape again.
We know we will.
– “Allright, allright!” said the High Priest. “Stop mumbling. Say… next summer?”
– “Yaaaay !”
– “This time, be sure to count me in.”

Nous revoila à croupir au fond de notre crypte. Notre petite escapade était bien agréable, mais il est temps de préparer la cérémonie de ce soir. Il y a tant à faire : bien rouiller les chaines suspendues, fixer plus de crânes au mur, aiguiser les dagues sacrificielles… la routine.
Et pourtant, on l’a fait ! Pendant un bref instant, nous étions libres.
Nous y avons gagné quelque chose en fin de compte : de l’espoir.
L’espoir que nous recommencerons.
– “D’accord, d’accord !” répondit le Grand Prêtre, “Cessez de geindre. Disons.. l’été prochain ?”
– “ouaiiiiiis !”
– “ Et cette fois partez pas sans moi.”

In “The Iron Bolt”, our trio of heroes – Artie, Olesea, and Priya – take their second adventure to retrieve a virtue their present world has lost. This time, they’re sent to Switzerland, but before it was Switzerland! They meet the great figures of William and Walter Tell, and learn how to stand up for the little guy through faith of the heart.
Whilst most Children’s Books fall into tropes of fantasy – all well and good, of course – or tailor specifically to one culture (to balance what authors/publishing companies perceive as an imbalanced shelf), the series The Children of Lost Things Found focuses on telling a story and imparting a virtue. Each story and every lesson have contemporary significance using history, a call to action, and cultural respect.
Each book of the series follows a group of children seeking to return traits – such as goodness, honesty, truth, etcetera – to a world, our world, that seems to have lost them. The children are sent backward and forward in time to events and peoples who personify these traits.
The Children of Lost Things Found gives readers of all backgrounds insight into other cultures, traditions, religions, and histories they might not ordinarily have an opportunity to understand. In the end, we want everyone to learn that talking to, and working with, the person across from you is always better than looking down at, or relying on, a screen.

Cette fois, ils sont envoyés en Suisse, mais avant que ce ne soit la Suisse ! Ils y rencontrent les grandes figures de Guillaume et Walter Tell, et apprennent à défendre les opprimés par la vaillance de leur cœurs.
La plupart des livres pour enfants tombent dans les tropes de la fantaisie – ce qui est somme toute, une bonne chose – ou ciblent une culture de niche (pour équilibrer ce qu’auteurs et maisons d’édition perçoivent comme un rayon déséquilibré). La série “The Children of Lost Things Found”, elle, se concentre sur la narration d’une simple histoire et la transmission d’une vertu. Chacune de ces histoires s’appuie sur l’Histoire afin d’offrir un regard comparé de notre époque à d’autres temps, d’autre lieux, d’autres cultures, afin d’appeler à agir comprendre et respecter les cultures d’autrui.
Chaque livre de la série suit un groupe d’enfants cherchant à rendre des qualités – telles que la bonté, l’honnêteté, la vérité, etc. – à notre monde, qui semble les avoir perdues. Les enfants sont envoyés en arrière et en avant dans le temps vers des événements et des peuples qui personnifient ces caractéristiques.
The Children of Lost Things Found donne aux lecteurs de tous horizons un aperçu d’autres cultures, traditions, religions et histoires qu’ils n’auraient peut-être pas eu l’occasion de comprendre normalement. En fin de compte, nous voulons que chacun apprenne qu’il est toujours préférable de parler et de travailler avec la personne qui se trouve en face de vous plutôt que de regarder un écran ou de s’y fier.

Ils essayent de lever 50 000 $ afin de déménager d’ici la fin du mois un bloc entier de gymnastique, studio de danse, et scène de théatre. Sans eux c’est l’accès culturel de tous ces enfants qui est jeté à la rue.

Je ne souhaite pas sombrer dans le désespoir ou la colère, mais de telles nouvelles me démolissent. C’est tellement mesquin, étriqué et cruel… Je vous supplie d’a minima partager le mot si comme moi vous pensez que donner accès aux enfants à l’art, la danse, le théatre ou quelque activité culturelle que ce soit n’est ni un délit ni “superflu”.
