I’m so glad to present you the very first book of “The Children of Lost Things Found” – The Last Urumi

When something important happens – I mean, really important – you always remember where you were when it did.
Artie. He was in the attic again. It was a good place to escape.
Olesea. She was in the bunker again. It was a good place to hide.
Priya. She was in the banyan again. It was a good place to talk to the wanderoos.
It was then, that the entire world changed, and this unlikely trio was tasked to save the world.

Be Prepared

He’s prepared.
He got knifes, socks, backpack, binoculars, hats, first aid, tent, second tent, blanket, water, rhum, multitool, snacks, sunglasses, card deck, umbrella, flares, lighter… and of course, a huge confidence in his own ability.
If only he knew where he are.

Il est prêt.
Il a couteaux, chaussettes, sac à dos, jumelles, chapeaux, kit de premiers secours, tente, tente de secours, couverture, eau, rhum, casse-croûte, lunettes de soleil, jeu de cartes, parapluie, torches, briquet… et bien sur une énorme confiance en soi.
Si seulement il savait où il se trouve.

All that’s left

What will be left of us once we’re gone? 
Did we really only litter our doorstep with some junk?
Sure there’s some art, golden records and waves… Hardly count as something.
And that’s ok. Wishing for Eternity is far too arrogant for the like of us.

Que restera-t-il de nous une fois que nous serons parti ?
Est-ce que notre présence se limitera vraiment à quelques babioles jetées aux alentours ?
Bien sur, il y aura des traces, des disques d’or, des ondes… Bien peu en somme.
Et c’est normal. Esperer l’éternité est d’une arrogance folle.

Under construction

I dunno… I wouldn’t go with this “untouched by man” look the client wants. Too artificial.
No, don’t laugh, hear me out: they say they want primal forests, real wilderness. Nope. All they want are gardens. Primal forests are profoundly hostiles to humans. What we’re building is tended, and require maintenance, trimming and such by humans, it’s not a wild place that magically maintain itself.
And think about the client’s face when a periodic wildfire burns it all to start anew.

J’sais pas… Je crois pas que j’aimerai ce style “foret vierge” que veut le client. Trop artificiel.
Non mais te marre pas, écoute : Le client, il dit vouloir une forêt primaire, un véritable espace sauvage. Des clous, en fait il veut un jardin. Les forêts primaires sont profondément hostiles à l’homme. Ce qu’on lui installe là, c’est maintenu, entretenu et tout ça par des humains, c’est pas un espace sauvage qui se gère magiquement.
Pis imagine sa gueule quand un feu de forêt fait tout repartir de zéro.

Tree maintenance

Let’s see what’s going on…
Skipped a lot of maintenance did ya?  No wonder yer tree ain’t giving you no cherry, the wires’re all corroded. See? There’s shorts here and here.
No fret, repair’s easy peasy. I can even reprog yer tree whith whadya like. Still want cherries? Apples? Mangos? Pineapples? Cheetos?

Voyons voir ça…
Berk! Faites pas souvent la maintenance, hein? M’étonne pas qu’vous ayez plus de de cerises, les fils sont tout rouillés! Là, vous voyez? Y’a des courts-circuit partout.
Bon… pas de panique, c’est pas grave. J’peux réparer, pour sûr. No prob. J’peux même vous le reprog, vous voulez toujours des cerises ou aut’chose ? Pommes ? Mangues ? Ananas ? Biscuits ?
