Vladimir put the last hose in place. He’s feeling very hot. and had to unbutton his jacket. They managed to contain most of peripheral fires, but the last one resists. It is… different. Looks different too, Glowing. His comrade shows him a strange dark block of concrete he found on the rumbles.

    – What’s this? he ask.
    – Drop it. Leonid said to set the hose here and here. Help me to…

Viktor falls on his knees and starts vomiting.

I’ll join the chorus: go watch HBO’s Chernobyl. Worth it.

  • Burning away

    Everything comes to pass
    Some slowly fading away
    Some brightly burning away
It’s a matter of scales, lass

    All memories, belongings
    Nothing remains but ashes
    Fire transmute everything,
As slow as it can be fast.

    Tout passe, inéluctablement
    Parfois s’effaçant lentement
    Parfois s’embrasant violemment

  • Burned to the ground

On the second of September, 2018, a fire broke out at Paço de São Cristóvão in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which housed the 200-year-old National Museum of Brazil.
This is a tragedy. I know there is worse event out there. War, famine, hate mongering and general defiance to facts. But this one could have been avoided easily. This one destroyed the past of a nation.

  • The Reaper’s Apprentice

It was not the best job of the world, nor the most paid. He have to
walk around a lot, wear old-fashioned uniform and handle heavy tools
all day long. The worst was the customers, always complaining, never
satisfied… He took pride in a job well done and these reclamations
were hurting his pride a lot.

  • Dragon Fire

    Breathing fire, living fire,
    Blazing wrath so dire,
    Scorching earth with its ire,
    Setting the world on fire.
