  • Choose your own direction

Before you, a lone and large tree stands at the forkroad. There’s an old signpost but the letters are partially erased and one of the directions has drop to the ground.
To your left, the path leads down in the valley, to a distant forest, fuzzy and green.
To your right, the path climbs the mountain to a dark castle on top.
While you’re thinking about where to go, the eyed rock watches you in silence, intensely.
    What will you do?

    ***

  • Eye of the storm

    Eye of the storm

“Ridin’ the storm out, waitin’ for the thaw out
On a full moon night in the Rocky Mountain winter
My wine bottle’s low, watching for the snow
Thinkin’ about what I’ve been missin’ in the city

And I’m not missin’ a thing
Watchin’ the full moon crossing the range
    Ridin’ the storm out
    Ridin’ the storm out

My lady’s beside me, she’s there to guide me
She says that alone we’ve finally found home.
    The wind outside is frightening,
but it’s kinder than the lightning life in the city.
It’s a hard life to live but it gives back what you give.

  • Nice place to rest

Grandma Jeanne found the strange eyed rock while strolling a forgotten path high up in the mountains. She tried to communicate numerous times with it while she carried it back to her home, but the rock never responded to her attempts, only gazing intensely at her and blinking occasionally. Once she got back to her garden, she put it right by the stairs, so she could sip her morning coffee with it, gazing at each other.

My grandma Jeanne passed away years ago, and now I’m in charge of the cottage. I tried my best to keep the garden clean and flourishing. At first I was surprised and an bit scared by the rock. Like Grandma, I tried and tried to talk with it. Now I’m just sipping my morning tea with it, like my grandma. We keep looking at each other and that’s fine. Quite relaxing in fact. I just wish it could talk about grandma. I miss her so much.

Elle me manque tellement.

  • Returning Home

    – Sarg’, permission to talk freely?
    – Yes, son
    – Why the f*** are we carrying a eyed rock to the gate?
    – Don’t ask, Don’t tell. The white coat said so, son. So take that… eyed thing, go up there, and put it in the blue thing.
    – Aye sarg’

  • Examination

Dr Bretzelovich was baffled. So was Dr Acharya and Dr Levinov and all the others.
The army has contacted each of them individually, telling they manage to extract a sentient being from another dimension.
The opportunity of a life time!

    They
didn’t knew what to expect, but certainly not that. They tried every
method of communication, they peeked, probed, measured and scanned for a
    while without finding a clue.

Dr Acharya let his clipboard fall to the ground.

    – “This is no use. I want…I just want to give it a hug.”

  • The stray cat and the sentient rock – 3

After that, the cat did return occasionally to sleeps on the rock during the last days of autumn.
Winter came, and the snow covered the rock, forcing it to closes its eyes and wait for spring.
Upon the return of the sun, when the snow melted away, the rock waited again for the cat.

Slowly, the rock started to purr.
